My name is Erai Beckmann. I thought it would be fitting for our first blog post to give a brief intro into who we are and why we created Zynik Consulting a Vancouver BC based Business Consulting- Coaching service for start up entrepreneurs and existing businesses looking for help with raising financing, turn around management, and general “Kick Start” action planning.

Zynik Consulting is made up of the partners and principles of Zynik Capital Corp (a private equity company based in Vancouver BC with 3 Billion in assets under management). We have over 23 years of operating experience as a private equity firm where we have earned hundreds of millions of dollars, raised hundreds of millions of dollars for our various portfolio companies and successfully created and exited our own businesses. We have then re-invested our earnings and as a result now have over 3 Billion dollars in assets under management. Over the years our advice has been sought by many. For over ten years now we have been teaching at the Harvard School of Business to successful businesses and entrepreneurs. In our experience the only thing between you and achieving your goals is knowledge and execution. In business we currently have that knowledge, we are proven executors and we can help you achieve great success.

About 1 year ago myself and my business partner Nadeem Kassam were working on one of our most exciting start-up portfolio companies PulseTracer.com. At this time I had been an EIR with Zynik Capital for about 6 months and already I had seen many amazing successes in business. I had learned how we took our last major company that we bought in bankruptcy to over 100M/Year in revenues and then exited it publicly for over 75M in profit, I had also seen us buy another company in Bankruptcy and manage to make over 8M in profit and have an 800 acre pristine farm left over in Southern California for ourselves. I had seen how to raise money properly while ensuring the deal terms are structured so that eventually when you do succeed and exit 5 years down the road you actually get paid, and get paid handsomely. I was having a blast. Finally I had ‘the keys to the kingdom’ in my mind, I had both resources financially, the knowledge and business experience from my partners to achieve my lofty goals in business. I was finally at the place I had always wanted to be. After 7 years of having been an entrepreneur myself and having had many failures before having my first successes I was positioned as well as I could have ever imagined to bring my business ‘dreams’ into reality. But then it hit me. What about all of the other entrepreneurs out there? What about all of those other people who had new or even existing business and were about to go through all of the typical ‘learning experiences’ that cost us so much of our lives including time and money. I wanted to help them. I wanted to help save as many entrepreneurs as possible the precious time and money that I had lost while ‘learning’  in each of my past businesses. I saw all of the valuable knowledge and experience in my 3 business partners that had enabled them to earn hundreds of millions of dollars, raise hundreds of millions of dollars, and ultimately now have successfully invested their money to the point where they know have over 3B in assets under management, and I wanted to share it. I realized that if we could empower entrepreneurs with our combined knowledge and experience we could help them succeed while saving them time and money and so Zynik Consulting was born.

Now that we were all agreed that we wanted to help other entrepreneurs out with their businesses deciding how we would help them was our next big question. There were so many areas that we could help entrepreneurs with start up or existing businesses that it was tough to decide where we would first start.  We specialized ourselves in distressed assets (We take a big risk and buy companies that aren’t doing so well ie: bankrupt or seriously loosing money turn them around and sell them once they are doing well again).  We have over 23 years of experience raising money, running our own businesses  and successfully exiting them so you can imagine how many aspects of business we can provide good advice and direction on. We decided we would start by helping start up entrepreneurs and existing businesses raise their first rounds of financing. Depending on the stage of your business there are different steps that need to take place before you can start ‘raising dollars.’ However, regardless of where your at we can help you prepare your concept/business to the point where it needs to be in order to start receiving money. Currently it is our goal to help as many entrepreneurs with their businesses as possible. However as we currently ourselves have multiple existing successful businesses the time we have available is limited. Because of this we can only afford to work with a limited number of entrepreneurs/clients at one time. Therefore we are very selective of who we work with.

*       Coachable:  We believe every entrepreneur has to be coachable. If they are open to learning from those who have more experience than themselves in a particular area of expertise and implement what they learn then they are closer to achieving their goals and will benefit as a result.  This is the first and one of the most important qualities we look for in our clients and ultimately every entrepreneur should strive to have.

*       Passionate: In order to enjoy the time and energy your business needs whether its  a start up concept or existing business you will need to be passionate. Your passion will ultimately help you continue to strive forward when you experience obstacles that occur along your path to success. Your passion will be what helps to ’sell’ your initial Angel investors on your ‘vision’ and the fact that you can carry it through to completion.

*       Organized:   Organization will be key to implementing the step by step plan of action that we prescribe in order to achieve your goals.

Over the past year we have refined our process of working with our entrepreneurs and helping them make their business goals a reality. We treat each of our clients businesses as if they were our own helping them to make the very same decisions we would if we were them. We have found that one meeting every two weeks of roughly an hour in length (sometime’s everyone is so excited we go over time) is enough time to assess the needs of the entrepreneur, the business, and map out a step by step plan of action in order to achieve the desired goals. This plan of action is then taken away by the entrepreneur and implemented over the next two weeks between our next meeting. In between meetings if our clients have any questions we offer unlimited support via phone or email so they can reach out at any time of day 7 days a week (please…before 3 am). We also advise our clients each step of the way ensuring that each action they take and financing offer that they consider is ideal for their business goals.

In our experience most businesses need at least 3 months in order to prepare everything necessary in order to raise their first round of financing.
